Hello, my name is Daniel, and I’m a twenty-two-year-old discovering the joys of writing. My goals were small to begin with. I made a new year resolution to write a haiku every day, as a way to build a daily writing. I figured, start small and work myself up, so I don’t burn myself out too fast and give up. Here I am, 200 and some odd haiku poems in and it’s the first resolution I’ve ever stuck with. The challenge is to bump up the amount of content now, if the end goal is write a novel someday. I managed about sixty days of writing at least 300 words a day, a different story each day, but I let myself drift away from the habit. Now I’m trying to jump back on, and I have a few new stories to build momentum from. I remember how much fun it is to create stories 🙂 So, here’s to my go at a daily writing practice, and through it all the faithful haiku will remain.
I also had a good run at a photo a day practice, but that one faded away as well. I look at my camera just about every day and miss how much fun it was to make photos. I do plan to resurrect that as well.
I’m diving into school again today, after a two year break, and I’m excited to enter another phase of my life. I’ve been teaching myself the basics of web development and design, and for the first time I actually loved to learn. That’s been taking up a lot of my time, and now school is going to be taking up another chunk, as well as work. I’m working on making time for my passions and giving them the chance to grow.
